Alexandria & Cairo 2 Days from Sharm el Sheikh by bus
Day One: Pyramids, Grand Museum, and Cairo
Hotel Pick-up You will be picked up from your hotel (usually around 1:00 AM, depending on location) to begin the drive to Cairo with your English-speaking representative.
Arrival in Cairo The estimated arrival time in Cairo is 8:30 AM. Upon arrival, you will be met by your certified English-speaking guide at the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) to officially begin your tour.
Nile Felucca Ride (Optional) This optional experience offers a relaxing ride on a traditional Nile felucca (sailboat). Enjoy the refreshing breeze, take in stunning views of the city from the water, and get a unique perspective of the great Nile River. (Extra charge: 10 EURO).
The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) The GEM is a world-class facility designed to showcase Egypt’s incredible heritage. Located near the Pyramids, its architecture combines modern design with traditional motifs, offering stunning views of the Giza Plateau. The museum houses thousands of artifacts, including the magnificent Tutankhamun galleries and the Solar Boat Museum.
Lunch Lunch will be served at a local restaurant near the Pyramids area. Please note that drinks are not included in the cost of the meal and are available for an extra charge.
Shopping You will have approximately one hour to shop for souvenirs and Egyptian goods. (If you are not interested in shopping, you are welcome to wait in the comfort of our air-conditioned bus.)
Giza Plateau Discovery (The Pyramids of Giza) Witness these ancient wonders, built over 4,500 years ago as monumental tombs for the Pharaohs. The Giza Necropolis is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and includes the three most famous pyramids in the world: the Great Pyramid of Khufu (Cheops), the Pyramid of Khafre, and the Pyramid of Menkaure.
Shopping and Overnight Stay
Souvenir Shopping At the end of the day, you will have approximately 1 hour to shop for authentic Egyptian souvenirs and antiques. (If you prefer not to shop, you are welcome to wait in the air-conditioned bus.)
Hotel Check-in You will then be transferred to a comfortable 3-4 star hotel where you will spend the night.
Day Two: Alexandria- The Pearl of the Mediterranean –
Early Morning Departure for Alexandria: After breakfast, your guide picks you up at 6:00 AM. We drive north to Alexandria, the “Pearl of the Mediterranean,” a comfortable 2.5-hour drive (220 km).
Morning The Library of Alexandria: Our first stop is the magnificent Bibliotheca Alexandrina. Explore this modern tribute to the great ancient library, which holds over 8 million books and various museums.
Mid-Morning Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa: Descend into this fascinating Roman-era necropolis. It’s the best place to see a unique blend of Greek, Roman, and ancient Egyptian cultural styles in its intricate tombs and carvings.
Late Morning Pompey’s Pillar: Visit the site of the ancient Serapeum. Marvel at the spectacular 26-meter-high Pompey’s Pillar, an enduring symbol of Roman rule.
Mid-Day Citadel of Qaitbay: Explore this impressive 15th-century sea fortress. It stands on the exact site of the ancient Pharos (Lighthouse) of Alexandria, offering incredible views of the harbor.
Afternoon Lunch in Alexandria: Enjoy a lovely lunch at a local restaurant. Being a coastal city, you have the option to sample fresh, tasty local fish or choose from your favorite traditional dishes.
Late Afternoon/Evening Departure & Drop-off: We begin our drive back to Cairo, and then continue on the comfortable coach for your final transfer back to your hotel in Sharm El Sheikh.
